Education Overview
BioTN believes workforce development begins at a young age, and as such implements training and educational programs from young children to adults seeking a career change.
PreK-12 education is where great science begins, and much of BioTN’s focus is on support for Tennessee teachers, who in turn reach many thousands of students across the state.
Additionally, each year, thousands of students earn science and engineering degrees from the nearly 200 public and private colleges and universities located in Tennessee. The institutions of higher education across the state provide their local areas with vital outreach and community service programs, opportunities, and events and many are recognized for cutting-edge research as well as strong undergraduate programs. The University of Tennessee system and many other private and public universities in the state are beginning to realize their potential. Vanderbilt, with one of the ten largest NIH-funded biomedical research engines in the U.S., is already positioned to be an economic powerhouse in the state and should be further leveraged toward life sciences job creation.
Some of the best and brightest minds in the world are located in Tennessee, and BioTN provides an opportunity to leverage this intellectual talent and "real estate" into long-term gains for those who seek a better and brighter future in the state.
